Why Milwaukee Brewers to move from the AL to the NL in 1998?
The equipment was transferred from the National League AHL baseball in 1998, during the expansion and reorganization. With the addition of two franchises (Arizona and Tampa Bay), one in each Netherlands and the American League, each league has 15 teams. Major League Baseball, however, wanted to annex interleague play, presented earlier in the year designated blocks throughout the season. We each league to have an even number of teams that do not have interleague play singles scattered throughout the year. It was decided therefore, have a 16-team National League and a 14-team American League volunteers with the Brewers to move the franchise leagues, moving to the Central Division.
