Nascar Tickets – No. 7 Car Looks To Fill Void During Danica Patrick Drought
Danica Patrick has agreed to run 13 races this year with NASCAR’s Nationwide Series, but during her mid-season absence from stock car racing to resume her celebrated role in the IRL, who will fill her seat in JR Motorsports’ No. 7 vehicle? That’s the question of the month for those on the NASCAR circuit, and it’s one crew chief/JRM co-owner Tony Eury Jr. hopes to have the answer to soon.
Announced in late March, Eury Jr. spoke to ESPN about JR Motorsports’ intentions with Patrick’s No. 7 car this spring while she’s racing her IndyCar vehicle, saying, “The bottom line is the No. 7 car is too good not to be at the race track. Our goal at JR Motorsports has always been to have two full-time Nationwide Series teams competing every week.”
While Patrick is busy racing her GoDaddy open-wheel car in IRL races this spring, another NASCAR driver will step up to her Nationwide No. 7. Just who this fill-in driver is remains to be a stable pick, though Scott Wimmer has taken the reins for Nationwide races at Bristol (March 20) and Nashville (April 3). Wimmer will perhaps bring some good fortune to the yet-unlucky No. 7 stock car, especially as he notched a respectable No. 10 place in the Bristol race in March – a race that was stacked with Cup Series drivers including Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick, Greg Biffle and Reed Sorenson.
It’s yet to be determined whether or not Wimmer will continue to drive in Danica Patrick’s place this entire spring, but the only thing for certain at this point is that the leading lady of motorsports won’t return to her car with JRM until June 5, when she resumes her NASCAR role in the Federated Auto Parts 300 at Nashville.
Danica Patrick’s three Nationwide Series starts in the 2010 season have been highly disappointing for fans waiting on the grand entrance of No. 7 onto the NASCAR circuit, but the GoDaddy spokeswoman has sure been a leading force behind the huge sales of <a href=”http://www.stubhub.com/nascar-tickets/”>NASCAR tickets</a> to races this season, anyway. Patrick has been given the chance to take the NASCAR plunge this year, and even though she’s coming around to stock car racing slower than expected, the future looks promising for the queen of the racetrack.
Patrick’s 2010 season so far has consisted of three Nationwide starts, beginning with her Feb. 13 debut at Daytona, where a 12-car pileup took her out of the race early. She finished the next race at Fontana – albeit in 31st place – but in Las Vegas on Feb. 27 she was once again ousted with no luck, colliding with Michael McDowell (who took full blame for the incident) on lap 83 and thus ending her start to a not-so-dazzling 2010 in the Nationwide Series.
While Patrick now revs the engine of her No. 7 IndyCar vehicle for the start of the shorter 2010 IRL season, JR Motorsports will find a fill-in driver to keep her stock car warmed up for Patrick’s return this summer. Will Danica Patrick finish the 2010 Nationwide Series schedule with better luck than she started? It’s all to come this spring and summer as NASCAR season kicks into high gear.
