First half action from the 1985 meeting between #14 Oklahoma State and #6 Washington from Husky Stadium, in one of the most-anticipated inter-conference showdowns of the college football season. Washington led 17-10 at halftime but the Cowboy defense put on a superb effort in the second half, shutting out the Huskies and allowing OSU to rally to a 31-17 win in Seattle. The Cowboys – led by quarterback Ronnie Williams, running back Thurman Thomas, defensive end Leslie O’Neal and hard-hitting safety Mark Moore – represented the Big Eight Conference and were coming off a 10-2 season in 1984 where they had defeated South Carolina in the Gator Bowl. OSU was coached by Pat Jones, who was entering his second year at the helm with the Pokes. Washington entered the 1985 season opener after a very successful 1984 campaign, which saw the Huskies finish 2nd in the AP and coaches polls with an 11-1 record. UW was also looking to continue its success against Big Eight squads, after they had closed out 1984 with a 28-17 win over Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. The Huskies were coached by Don James, and featured defensive tackle Reggie Rogers, linebacker Joe Kelly, defensive back Vestee Jackson and quarterback Hugh Millen.
