The football series between Oklahoma State and Texas Tech has developed into one of the wildest rivalries in college football in the 21st century. The two teams have engaged in high-scoring shootouts that have gone down to the wire, and the 2003 meeting between these two teams was no exception. The Cowboys and Red Raiders combined for 100 points as OSU defeated Tech 51-49 in Stillwater. With an offensive explosion from Josh Fields, Tatum Bell and Rashaun Woods, the Pokes jumped out to a 34-14 lead before a furious comeback by the Red Raiders led by BJ Symons, Taurean Henderson, and Wes Welker in the second half made for a very stressful final few minutes at Boone Pickens Stadium. Texas Tech trailed 51-49 and had the ball in Cowboy territory in the closing minutes of the contest before OSU made a heroic defensive stand. Antonio Smith and Greg Richmond harassed Symons, leading to a diving interception by Jon Holland to clinch the victory.
