Green Day is an American rock band formed in 1987. The group consisted of Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass, vocals) and Tré Cool (drums, percussion) for most of its existence. Green Day was originally part of the punk-rock at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, California.

However, their label debut Dookie (1994) became a hit in small groups to result, Green Day was widely recognized along with other punk bands The Offspring and Rancid, California, with the revival of interest in the extension and punk rock in the United States. 2004 Green Day American Idiot rock opera revived the band's popularity with a younger generation, selling five million copies in the album of the U.S. study group eighth, 21st Breakdown Century, was released May 15, 2009.

Green Day has sold over 22 million records in the States United States States. They have won three Grammy Awards, Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot, and Record of the Year for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams."

Members Present Green Day are Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals, rhythm guitar and lead), bass, Mike Dirnt (vocals), Tre Cool (drums, percussion, vocals), Jason White (lead guitar rhythm, vocals), Jason Freese (keyboards, piano, acoustic guitar, trombone, saxophone, accordion and vocals) and Jeff Matiko (rhythm guitar and vocals)

Green Day has announced details The second phase of UK shows in the summer of 2010. We are in California in three parts, which will play Manchester Lancashire County Cricket Ground, June 16, 2010, and other East London Wembley Stadium June 19, 2010.
